Understanding the 7 Types of Choghadiya
Choghadiya (or Chaugadiyan) divides day and night into 8 equal periods of 1.5 hours (approx. 3.75 Ghatis). There are 7 distinct Choghadiyas: 4 Auspicious (Shubh, Amrit, Labh, Char) and 3 Inauspicious (Rog, Kaal, Udveg).
✦ Amrit Choghadiya (Ruled by Moon)
Most auspicious for all auspicious activities, health, meditation, and marriage.
✦ Shubh Choghadiya (Ruled by Jupiter)
Excellent for ceremonies, religious events, starting education, and investments.
✦ Labh Choghadiya (Ruled by Mercury)
Best for commercial trading, starting a business, purchasing assets, and wealth gain.
✦ Char Choghadiya (Ruled by Venus)
Auspicious for travel, moving, driving, and quick transitions.
✦ Inauspicious: Rog, Kaal, Udveg
Rog (Mars - causes sickness/arguments), Kaal (Saturn - severe obstacles), and Udveg (Sun - mental stress/conflict).
