Ram Navami 2026 Shubh Muhurat

In 2026, Ram Navami falls on 26 March 2026 (Thursday). The puja muhurat runs from 11:13 AM to 1:40 PM. This date is computed from the actual angle between the Moon and the Sun for New Delhi, not copied from a list.

Why two dates are circulating for Ram Navami

Neither date is wrong - they come from two different rules. A plain almanac asks which tithi is running at sunrise, and that rule gives 27 March 2026 (Friday). But this festival's rite belongs to Madhyahna (midday), and Shukla Navami covers that window on 26 March 2026 (Thursday). So the observance is 26 March 2026 (Thursday). Madhyahna (midday) is the middle fifth of the day, counted from sunrise to sunset.

Check it yourself

Shukla Navami begins at 26 Mar 2026, 11:50 AM and ends at 27 Mar 2026, 10:08 AM, all times IST. Those two instants are what you can check against your own panchang - the date follows from them.

Why the date moves each year

A Hindu festival is fixed to a tithi in a lunar month, not to a calendar date. The lunar year is about eleven days shorter than the solar one, so festivals drift earlier until an extra month - adhika masa - is inserted roughly every third year and they jump back.

Regional variation

This festival's rule is convention as well as astronomy, and the date can differ by a day between regions and traditions. The tithi start and end instants above are the part to check against your own local panchang.
